The Standard Gauge Railway Project is a landmark project for Kenya and the region. It will have far reaching economic benefits for Kenya and the region as outline below.
1.1 Economic Benefits
The Railway Development will have the following immediate economic benefits:
• Reduce cost of transportation in the country and the region making Kenya attractive to investment;
• Protect the environment through reduced carbon emissions;
• Accelerate industrialization through easier and cheaper transport and the establishment of new industries to service the new railway;
• Additional annual GDP growth of at least 1.5 % during construction and subsequent operation,
• Position Kenya as the transport and logistical hub for the region;
• Reduce congestion

6. The land acquisition process
On May 11th 2014, East African leaders and China formally signed agreements for the development of the SGR with China offering a US$1.6 billion commercial loan and US$1.63 billion concessional facility for the Mombasa-Nairobi
Technology helped facilitate the production of goods as well as transportation. Farmers were able to produce more goods, yet they overproduced and it resulted in economic hardship for them. They could not afford to export goods through the high rates of rail roads, and led to clashing with the government, for the lack of support.
Kenya is in a malnourished area, so the farmers should sell their produce more locally for better improvements
In order to detail the rise of railroads throughout this era of technological boom, it is important to understand the Industrial Revolution, which was the start of this success; it paved the way for major changes in the modern society we live in today. This is the period between the 18th and 19th centuries when major changes in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transportatio...
This essay will encounter The Long Island Rail Road first years making. The rail road was developed because the rail roads planners wanted to expand a way to get to Boston. In order for this view to happen, the service needed to make rail-road through Long Island, so they made the LIRR with the help of legislature supplying the money with 1,500,000$. This caused for New York or Brooklyn to be linked to Boston. Even though the money was good start for making the rail road, it was still very difficult to make so they to find ways to make it more efficient.
Some of these inventions such as the refrigerated railroad cars and the cigarette-rolling machine, formed a basis for new industries and fortunes. As the country expanded and industrialized, increasing emphasis was placed upon mass production and mass distribution. By speeding up production and increased the output of goods, and an industry could lower costs and maximize profits. As a result of mass production, factory owners often found themselves able to produce more goods than the market would absorb, therefore they needed to increase consumer
There is no refuting that the railroad companies transformed business operations and encouraged industrial expansion. The raw materials required for construction of the transcontinental railroad directly resulted in the expansion of the steel, lumber and stone industries. (Gillon p.652) The railroad stimulated growth in manufacturing and agriculture providing an efficient manner to ship raw materials and products throughout the country. Which in turn, increased consumerism and introduced t...
The railroad created a more economic means of transporting the grains and produce from the breadbasket of America to the markets in the population centers of the coast.
Railroads have made better the lives of most citizens in the US. By the 1890s, the United States was becoming an urban nation , railroads were a great way of transport between towns. Railroads also helped to shape physically the growth of towns and also a lot business grew around focal points in the railroad industry. ...d finished products. Second, the railroad created hundreds of thousands of new jobs for both railroad workers and miners. Third, the railroads boosted England’s agricultural and fishing industries, which could transport their products to distant cities. Finally, by making travel easier, railroads encouraged country people to take distant city jobs. Also, railroads lured city dwellers to resorts in the countryside.
The expanded railroad system enabled farmers to produce more crops because of the greater potential shipping locations that became available. It also made products such as corn and grain available to locations where the crop wasn't produced. It made things that used to be a luxury in some regions a common item to have. The increasing railroad was also beneficial to cities' economies that had tracks running through them. It helped the city import and export goods, which helped produce and ship better products in a timelier manner to a larger number of people and businesses.
be the increase in jobs. Creation of new jobs will take place in the manufacturing
Before the industrial revolution, transportation played a huge role in daily life. The only way to make money was to trade goods, but the only method of transportation was the wagon and horse. It took ages to transport from one place to another. Improved technology brought railroads and canals. These made transportation cheaper and 100 times more efficient. This not only made more money but brought jobs when trying to build the railroads. The canals were overcrowded so the government made laws to improve them (“Industrial Revolution” 1). Overall the in...
...d with urbanization. Industrialization and urbanization are just like brothers that grow and develop together and developed each other. With the excellent inventions such as the telephone, railroads, and steel it has helped the process of urbanization to occur. Without such inventions the process of industrialization and urbanization would have been impossible. Industrialization and urbanization goes hand and hand and they need each other to occur.
