What is Dry Socket and How Is It Treated
Extraction of teeth is a considered a quite normal and almost painless procedure these days. You just have to visit the dental clinic and the dentist is going to extract your tooth easily without causing you any pain. You are not going to have any lasting pain after the tooth extraction process as well. So, there is no need to fear a tooth extraction. However, if your pain does not subside in a few days and instead becomes severe then there is a chance that it might be a symptom of a condition called alveolar osteitis, commonly known as dry socket.

Smoking causes vasoconstriction of blood vessels which stops the formation of the blood clot while bad oral hygiene causes infections which can increase your chances of having dry sockets. Moreover, patients who have a previous history of dry sockets and those having a wisdom tooth extraction also have a higher risk of getting dry sockets.
