If we do not continue to do this and we allow others too break us apart, then that Would look like we could care less about what is going on and how people look at us. Broadly for the poor and for the people of color, but specifically for people of color, immigration (and perhaps life thereafter) was a site of struggle, then and now. It is not an imagination; however, it is a daunting truth that many of the immigrants live by, both during the turn of the twentieth century and the immigration in the later twentieth century until now. At both times, some were able to assimilate and fully achieve the American status, while some did not, and people who were allowed full incorporation were people with certain privilege: the racial privilege. Immigration is a large aspect of American history. In the book Breaking Through by Francisco Jimenez, we are able to see the struggles of one Hispanic boy immigrating to the United States from Mexico. Many of the people in the community that Francisco lived in didn’t really accept Hispanic people. It was really depressing that he would make friends, go over to their house and their parents wouldn’t let him come over again, simply because he was Hispanic. In Diversity Matters the text states, “Unique stresses created by the process of immigration to another country and discrimination faced in the new country can create psychological distress for many immigrants” (Spradlin 126). During this time in America, there was still a lot of discrimination going on not only with Hispanics, but other minority races like African Americans. This really goes to show how far our country has come over the years. There is still a long way to go, but I think that if people are more educated and aware of the discrimination people face on a daily basis they will be more open-minded. The United States is becoming more open to diversity, but first we will look at the struggles of one Hispanic boy growing up here illegally in Breaking Through.
Many people go to schools and don't worry about black or white people around the schools and everyone gets along and are in the same class . Everyone cares for each other and play sports together too . But a long time ago they cared what your skin color was and would not let blacks or whites go to the same school . But a girl changed our world by letting blacks into all white schools and her name was Ruby Bridges . She helped blacks and whites go to the same school it was not as easy as you think just because the color of her skin there have been a lot of problems like for example protesting that had been a problem for when she went to school
Throughout the history of the United States of America, the country has always been divided by race. No matter the century or decade, there has always been an issue present dealing with this problem in some shape or form. Though the value system of the United States has always been based on equal rights for all, there have always been those individuals that cannot except that all men are created equal. Racism is the belief that human beings can be divided into human races and that some members of some races are inferior to members of other races. People who believe in racism are racist.(“Human Races”). People often hear someone say a slur that may have a little bit to do with racism but not really at the same time and they go bananas. Next thing people know there’s a court date and the member of the other race is a millionaire because he sued for a slur like my feet are black from all this work or my feet are red from all this heat. A lot of people for some reason love to just find a reason to be unhappy. For most its picking a fight with someone for a stupid reason.

The only group of people that have ever felt a sense of belonging in the modernized United States are Caucasian people. Why? It’s not that they owned the land, or rightfully claimed it. No, it’s because their ancestors have used influence and power to take what they greedily lusted for. To make their stolen country succeed, they forcibly enlisted several slaves, and used the people they invited, to keep their iron fist credible. If the people could not rely on the government to feel protected, entitled, and successful, then they would combine forces to seek other forms of management. Similar to the formation of the Americas, and the Civil War, when the South’s protection (the possession of slaves to promote their economic success) was threatened.
Our 32nd President Franklin Roosevelt once said the famous words of,” Remember, remember always, that all of us, and you and I especially, are descended from immigrants and revolutionists.” (Roosevelt, Franklin) In the dilemma we face today people love to bring this up as an excuse. In all the years our great country has been established, we have always thrived upon immigrants, because even we are descended from immigrants. However when others come here to our country and are not documented and drastically change our country, then we must fight back against them to reclaim what is ours. We live in a nation where each culture and a single person is just a single important piece to make our country great, but there are recent visitors to our country which have made it a struggle to keep thriving as the great nation we are. The struggle I speak of is not immigration but illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants have caused a struggle politically, in the government and have affected you even in your own schools and work. We must rectify the immigration system to help our predicament because the effects of illegal immigration may surprise you.
"But—But all lives matter!" a common rebuttal in response to the Black Lives Matter Movement. There are two sides in this fight for justice: All lives matter and Black Lives Matter. Of course, in arguing the opposing side of whether the Black Lives Matter Movement is fair, some absolutely love to bring up a certain beloved and deceased social rights activist. Martin Luther King Jr., as one of the few notable black activists given attention and learned about, is often debated in whether or not he would support the current pro-black movement, with the same goals as his own. From a pro-black social justice activist's perspective, Dr. King would undoubtedly be affiliated with and support the Black Lives Matter Movement if he were alive.
There are many problems in today’s world, one of which is the existence of racism. Obviously it has improved dramatically over time, however racism is still out there in our every day lives. Placing monetary value on an individual’s life is measured not by the way an individual has lived, but rather the individual’s income; at least that is how society views life. Every individual values life from a different perspective. And while every human will find value in life, those values will not be the same as everybody else. Some people will value life as a privilege and believe life should be taken seriously while considering the consequences in every decision contemplated while others will live in the fast lane with an irresponsible mindset. Individuals also view life differently depending on the circumstances. However, no matter how an individual views life, it seems to be impossible to extract emotion out of any decision. Society, on the other hand, values life by placing a monetary value on a human life. Society also has no choice but to set emotion aside when setting that monetary value. The government will use that value to compensate a family who has just lost a love one. However, some families mistake the compensation for “replacing” the lost soul and become indignant. There are many alternatives when it comes to compensating the victim’s family. In most times, society always ends up placing a value on an individual based on his/her income. Furthermore, while society delivers compensation to families, society also believes in compensation for an individual’s pain and suffering. There are times society should place a monetary value on life, while having restrictions.
The abstract idea of life cannot be explained by such simple ideas as being animated, breathing, or speaking. Ordinary machines in this century can perform all of these basic functions. The quandary with defining death is not as abstract and elusive as that of life. The problem of defining life and death has plagued philosophers and the religious bodies for thousands of years for one reason; each philosophy or religion has tried to define the meaning of life and death from only their certain perspective. The seemingly appropriate approach to this problem would be to understand the ideas presented in various philosophies and religions and through this knowledge create a new definition for each idea of life and death. The movie Blade Runner has taken this exact approach in its attempt to finally define life and death in a logical and un-spiritual manner. By taking the position that death is a concrete idea that can be explained, Blade Runner accomplishes the task of interpreting the idea of life in terms death. Through this approach, the meaning of life is redefined to accommodate for the existence of the replicants. Also, as a result of this novel notion of life, it is apparent that humans and replicants never actually live, even though they are alive.
