Discrimination Against Homosexuality

Homosexuality is term to describe a person who is sexually attracted to those of the same gender. Homosexuality can be used to refer both gay and lesbian. Discrimination against homosexuality has been an important issue that has produced a number of victims and it is crucial to stop this unnecessary death. Although homosexuality might be considered a blasphemy in a religious point of view, discrimination against homosexuality can lead to bullying, depression and suicidal tendencies which is against humanity.
The discrimination against homosexuality has been around for a long time and is getting better as time pass. There are various reasons behind the opposition of homosexuality, but one of the major reasons is religion. In most cases, homosexuality is viewed negatively in religious context. There are also cases where as a religion supports homosexuality. The United Kingdom Hindu Council was the first religious organization that supports homosexuality, stating that Hinduism does not condemn homosexuality. Religious people, regardless of their view on homosexuality, usually refer to their sacred text as guidance for their judgment. This can be misleading, as there are no guarantee that the translation from the original ancient language means exactly as what it translated into (Princeton.edu, 2014). Secondly, there are prejudice and stereotypes on homosexuality. For example, there are people who links HIV with homosexuality and how some people said that homosexuality is caused by excessive sexual needs and that homosexual relationship is based on sex, not with feelings and connection with each other. There is also a statement stating that homosexuality is not natural, as they could not reproduce (Hawaii, 2014).
