Abortion is a commonly talked about subject, but infanticide is not brought up nearly as often. Infanticide is the killing of a child who is less than a year old, often by his or her own parents. There are a few different forms of infanticide, and the ones that will be discussed in this essay are partial-birth abortion, direct infanticide, and indirect infanticide. Partial-birth abortion can be as easily defined as an abortion that doesn't take full course on the baby, thus the baby is purposely killed during birth. Often, the abortionist will pull the baby out feet first, but keeping it's head lodged in the cervix. The abortionist will then make a hole at the base of the baby's skull, and attach a catheter. This will use a powerful suction …show more content…
This may mean by starvation, dehydration, suffocation, or intentional head injuries (humanium.org). Reasons for direct infanticide my include religious beliefs, other than Christianity, and population control. Direct infanticide is more recognizable than indirect infanticide. Indirect infanticide starts when a baby's nutrition needs are not met. Neglect and careless parenting also contribute to indirect infanticide. This is especially common when an unwanted baby becomes sick. Regardless of the different names and types of infanticide, they are all ways of killing defenseless children. "Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to him, saying, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it."" (Luke 18:15-17) Jesus loves children no less than anyone else. He welcomes them into his arms. Not only does the bible tell of Jesus' love for children, but it also tells in Exodus 20:13 "You shall not murder," which is the sixth commandment. We as Christians know that murder is a terrible thing, even those who don't believe know how terrible it is, but many don't understand the value of life. Many believe that a baby cannot make decisions for itself, therefore the parents have all say in
Both of the acts given are awfully inhuman, but in all hanging a child is more inhuman than killing one’s father for a piece of bread. “But the third rope was still moving: the child, too light, was still breathing” (Wiesel 65). This child, along with the other two men were hanged in front of the prisoners of the camp,
To those who are unaware of exactly what an abortion is; it is when a pregnant woman has a fetus removed from her womb. This can either happen by induced labor, or by an in office procedure where the woman is put under general anesthesia and the fetus is surgically removed. This procedure usually takes place under a few hours and the patient may be sent home that day.
No one wants to be associated with a baby killer, even if they truly believe in that person’s cause. To kill an innocent child is viewed as one of the most unforgivable of all sins. A scientist could discover a cure for cancer, but if she killed a child in the process, she would be far more reviled for...
The birth of a child is usually a wonderful and priceless occasion. However, on June 5, 2015, an eleven-year-old girl gave birth to a newborn girl. Approximately a year before she gave birth, her 40-year-old father repeatedly sexually assaulted her. In this case, the unprepared eleven-year-old child decided to have the baby. This is a prime example that illustrates that the right to abortion should always be vested in the woman. Abortion, which has been debated for centuries and will continue to be fought upon for centuries to come, is a hot issue among social, political, and religious entities. This research paper will inform the reader about abortion using scholarly journals to define abortion, specifically when a fetus becomes a human being,
Many questions about the causes of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), also known as “crib death,” are still unresolved. The mysterious and elusive nature of SIDS creates problems, doubts, and more questions. This paper will present some of the most commonly asked questions as well as the answers that have been uncovered by scientists after years of research and study.
The case study from “Mercy Killing in the Newborn Nursery,” Sara T. Fry and Robert M. Veatch provide an example of a situation where the duty not to treat is evident:
“Partial-Birth Abortion is a procedure in which the abortionist pulls a living baby feet-first out of the womb and into the birth canal (vagina), except for the head, which the abortionist purposely keeps lodged just inside the cervix (the opening to the womb).” (National Rights to Live, nrlc.org)

As defined by the Merriam- Webster dictionary, abortion is “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus as a spontaneous expulsion of a human fetus during the first 12 weeks of gestation- miscarriage, the induced expulsion of a human fetus, or the expulsion of a fetus by domestic animal often due to the infection at any time before completion of pregnancy” (“Abortion”).
Infanticide is not unique to humans. It is practiced by many mammals including some primates. The main difference between human and animal infanticide is that infanticide in humans is performed by the parent(s) of the child while in the case of animals it is usually a male suitor (Caldwell and Caldwell, 2005, p. 208). In pre-modern societies infanticide was done instead of abortions as it allowed for sexual selection, it was much more effective than pre-modern contraception, and it did not require any special skills or esoteric knowledge (Caldwell and Caldwell,2005, p. 205). Infanticide has a history as a method of population control. It is more frequent to throw away girl babies. This may be because of dowries or other cultural reasons. Infanticide seems to occur primarily when it aids one parent, both parents or additional children to survive better or if when the infant has little chance of survival.
Abortion is the termination of a human pregnancy that does not end in birth of a child. There are two types of abortion-medical abortion and surgical abortion. Medical abortion can be done before 49 days of pregnancy by using pharmaceutical drugs. Surgical abortion takes place by using surgical instruments between 6-14 weeks of pregnancy. Both methods are safe. It depends on the size of fetus and week of pregnancy. An abortion, which is the removal of a fetus from a woman’s body, should be allowed because of women’ s freedom, life opportunities and victim protection.
Would you kill another human just because you don’t want them around? Chances are the answer is no. So why would you kill your unborn child? Maybe you don’t want the baby or can’t take care of it, but there are plenty of people in the world who don’t even have the choice to conceive that would more than likely give your child a loving home. Today, abortion is one of the biggest social issues concerning our society for years.
Abortion is very cruel to the baby and even harms the mother. It is murder! There are many different procedures for abortions, all gruesome and pain inflicting on the baby. Suction Aspiration (vacuum curettage) makes up for 98% of first trimester abortions. The cervix is first dilated. Then a suction tube with a sharp cutting edge is inserted which rips the baby to pieces. It then sucks out all the remains.
...man soldiers use infants and babies as targets for machine guns. These Jewish babies were tossed into the air and used as target practice for the German machine gunners. The soldiers were never told to do this; they chose to. They made their own personal choice to kill the babies. It is natural instinct for humans to protect babies and infants. In order for the soldiers to shoot them, they had to deliberately go against their nature to kill the babies.
Infant Mortality Rate can be defined as death of an infant before his or her first birthday. These rates often help the nation to assess underlying factors such as maternal care, social & economic conditions, and individual’s access to medical care. With a world of 195 countries and estimated population of 7 billion people the chances of death are marginal. Living in the United States of America have sought out to be one of supreme beings when it comes to Infant Mortality Rate, the laws have declared it to be a crime.
