Differentiate health care services based on primary, secondary, and tertiary disease prevention categories. Health care services are categorized according to their level of disease prevention; consisting of primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. Primary prevention methods focus on promoting healthy habits and illness prevention. In order to promote the necessary standards of health, the World Health Organization implemented a project called Healthy People which overall focused on increasing the quality of life by providing healthy environments. Long term illnesses are common older adults and this age group has a significant impact on health care professionals. As a result other methods of care have been implemented, allowing patients to be treated from the comfort of their home. Technology also affects delivery in how diagnosis and evaluations can be made from outside the hospital setting through methods like telenursing. Economics plays a huge factor in how expensive health care can be. For example, treatments for adults over the age of 65 are more than double the cost compared to adults under 65. Managed care is a system that focuses on providing the most cost effective plan for groups of clients through the partnership of health care providers and agencies.. This particular configuration is utilized in primary, team, functional and alternative nursing care delivery systems. A case management system uses a multidisciplinary team and collaborates on coordinating the most effective procedure, and a case manager may even be a nurse or social worker. An early developed model of nursing is case method and involves one nurse assessing a whole group over the course of a 8-12 hour shift. Functional method is a task oriented approach which can overlook the emotional needs of the patient. This model is based on production and efficiency. Team nursing is when the delivery is provided by a group lead by a professional nurse. The team divide the roles according and communication is fundamental. Primary nursing involves one nurse being responsible for supervising the total care of hospitalized clients for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
