Harry Potter: Something EPIC HERE
J.K. Rowling got the idea for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone while on a train to London in 1990. She said, “...the idea for Harry Potter simply fell into my head.”(Rowling). Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was published seven years later in 1997. The movie later came out in November, 2001. It is often said that a movie is never as good as the book. The differences between a movie and book could happen for a number of reasons. The movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone had some differences compared to the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
The first thing that stuck out to me was Harry’s appearance in the movie and book. According to the book Harry had, “...jet-black hair…”(15) and “...bright green eyes..”(20) …show more content…

In the book, Harry was very smart-mouthed. For example, at one point Dudley asks him if he wants to practice putting his (meaning Harry’s) head down the toilet for his new school. Harry replies by saying, “No thanks...the poor toilet’s never had anything as horrible as your head down it --- it might be sick”(32). In another instance Harry’s uncle, Uncle Vernon, tells Harry to get the mail, in which Harry retorts, “Make Dudley get it.” (33). To the contrary, in the movie Harry never says anything that could be deemed saucy toward the Dursleys. He never questions what the Dursleys say and does not argue when he is told to do something. The movie can not always be exactly like the book for various reasons; producers do not find talented actors that resemble the character, directors may want to make their own interpretation of the book or the copyright laws simply restrict the director and producers to follow the book word for word. The movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was very close to the book, but Harry’s character was not due to the physical appearance of the actor and the actor’s portrayal of the
