Every word has its own significance and for me Flourishing defines my grandmother. To be at one’s prime does not necessarily mean they have to be famously known. You can live a prosperous and successful life, but yet be humble without needing to show off that you are luxuriant. Hubertina Ramirez was born in Pereira, Colombia. In her days, parents would give away their daughters to wed at a very young age. My grandfather and grandmother got married when they were just thirteen-years old. They had five children, but deep down inside she knew she didn’t want to live her life as a house wife for the rest of her life. She was ambitious and had dreams and wanted to become independent and she did. She had the opportunity to come to the United States and she took the chance the minute it came into her hands. My aunt brought my grandparents to New York and soon they got divorced. She didn’t let that break her down, instead she found a job as a cleaning lady in a factory. She wanted many things in life and knew that if she worked hard, it would all pay off at the end. At work, her boss would offer her over-time and without hesitation she would say yes. She worked until she was seventy-nine years old. Even after she was due to retire, she couldn’t stay at home. It was until she had a stroke where she finally decided because everyone begged her to. She lives an amazing life surrounded by many people that love and admire her dearly. She receives a great pension and travels around the world with her children, grandchildren and friends from time to time. She always tells everyone; you can’t ever give up on your dreams. If you make your dreams turn into reality that is just the start of many great things coming for you, but remember never ever give up no matter how much you want to because trust, at the end it will all be worth
