Social media deserves to be shoved to the ground, trampled on, spit at, and thrown in its rightful place called the garbage can. Social media marks the death of social interactions and the start of unconfident human beings. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, blogging, etc. causes people to lose touch with reality. This new medium creates dehumanization by replacing organic interaction with an artificial variant. It creates a world where we let the number of friends and likes define self-worth. A world where we let the images of beauty get the best of us. A world where bullies can be free and where politics is villainized. About 25% of adolescences experience repeated virtual bullying. Many of those adolescences will attempt to commit suicide or follow through with it completely. Cyberbullying occurs for the same reasons other bullying would happen. However, cyberbullies are considerably worse. These bullies don’t suffer immediate consequences for their actions. They don’t witness how much harm they do to their victim because they don’t directly observe the reaction on their face. In addition, cyberbullying can remain anonymous online. Anonymity does nothing to prevent cyber-attacks. Finally, cyberbullying is participated in and observed at a higher level. For example, if a classmate posts an embarrassing or unflattering picture of the someone, anyone can see it. Friends, family, classmates, and other acquaintances have access to it. Negative news and ads against competitors are constantly being displayed. In fact, less than 10% of the ads from the 2016 election were positive. The media always posts negative ads and false statements, and therefore, never gives any candidate the proper chance to succeed. For example, the media hates Trump. Therefore, the media presents negative things about him, and ever since he took office, he’s had low approval ratings. His reputation has been hindered ever since his campaign, and he was never given a fair chance. Another aspect not helping his case, however, is his Twitter account.
