What is the real meaning of friendship? What is a true friendship? One that lasts a lifetime? It is a relationship of mutual trust, respect and admiration. Though, there are many different friendships that people have between each other. Most can be considered through true friends, convenient friends, old friends, and special interest friends. According to Merriam Webster, “friendship” is defined as the state of being friends: the relationship between friends . The second definition is a friendly feeling or attitude: kindness or help given to someone . They know your deepest secrets, and you know theirs too. Some friends risk their lives for each other, redas friends we all make sacrifices for each other. If you have a boyfriend, girlfriend, lover, husband, or wife, usually these are the ones that you talk to the most. From talking and being around each other, you do not realize that you are becoming closer over time by expressing your feelings and becoming soon to be best friends. Everyone has a best true friend, even if it might be a person or an animal. Sometimes your friend might not always like or agree with what their friends have to say, but since there is a mutual connection between each other your friend will usually listen and respect what you have to say. Many people draw in people of power to give their own selfish needs under the appearance of friendship. There are special interest friends, also known as cosmetic friends. This kind of relationship is where you help a person with a goal, or financially, or whatever the case may be, and that is all they needed you for. So then these cosmetic friends drop you, because they did not want you for you, they just used you. These types of relationships start off with just friends, and could eventually turn into enemies for using you so much. Though, because you did not talk to each other enough to get to know one another, it could be an ongoing relationship where you just use each other. This friendship was not that close, because most the time we were too busy to interact. Not all friendships are created equal. Special interest friends are often leaving, the loyalty between one another dies out. These friendships split without even saying goodbye. It makes you think if these are really friends at all. People mistake that these “friends” are real friends when in all actuality they are not friends, just known as acquaintances
