Freedom. What a marvelous word! How much ebullience there is in it! Freedom describes the opportunities and dreams we can achieve everyday. Freedom itself is the availability of choice. It's something we can choose whether we want to or not. Everyday, we have the luxury to say what we want, do what we want, and choose where we want to utilize these rights. When performing these actions, we not only exercise our basic freedoms, but we exercise our basic liberties. Liberty is the power we possess to act as we please through freedom and independence. But what happens when we choose to give away our basic liberties for temporary safety? Liberty and security represent the basic values that create a Democratic Society, including that of the United States period Democratic Values support the belief that freedom must be preserved in order to maintain an orderly Society. In other countries, the beliefs of freedom and security is non existent. Countries such as Cuba, Iran, and North Korea are ruled by a dictatorship. This autocratic form of government refers to a form of absolute power and Rule when were the leaders are unrestricted by law, Constitution or other social and political factors. The people living in these countries do not have the chance to exercise their basic liberties. For example, it was illegal for woman to receive an education in Pakistan. However, when Malala Yousafzai went against the rules placed upon her, she became a global icon for girls across the nation. Malala fought for her right to receive an education, which in turn almost ended her life. Malala had to fight for a right that should have already been given to her. Others in political power would not listen to her and her plea for women's education, and in return she had to fight for something that Americans take for granted. In different nations across the globe, the right to exercise freedom and equality does not exist. As Americans we should not take what we have for
