Death With Dignity: A Choice Or Suicide Imagine dying, better yet; imagine choosing when you are going to die. It’s petrifying to even think about. Still, there are some people out there who stare death in the face on a daily basis. These people all have one thing in common; they have been diagnosed with a terminal illness or disease such as cancer, or ALS. With little options left, they can choose to die with dignity, although, they can only choose to do this in a few states. Death with dignity is an issue where one with a life threatening disease or illness can choose to end their lives through physician prescribed medication. Recent advocates of this topic have brought this controversial issue back into headlines nationwide. This practice is now being considered in other states due to those recent advocates. I have seen first hand what terminal ill people go through, the pain and suffering that they want to end. I also understand why this issue is so debatable. However, Terminally ill patients should be granted the right to choose when and how they will die. Some people have different views on death with dignity. There are religious beliefs, political views and personal beliefs that all argue wither or not death with dignity should be legalized. They hear doctor-assisted suicide and automatically assume the worst that the person has chosen to given up.
