Crime in Abortion

There are more deaths by abortions than war casualties together, now that’s something to think about (Abortion Statistics). Abortion is a controversial topic, with many opinions and valid points. Abortion is the deliberate termination of a pregnancy by surgical or medical means (Vaughn 161). I believe that it is wrong to abort a baby because it is alive. Some believe a baby is alive at conception and others after several weeks. Either way it is not right. Life is regarded as precious and we should cherish it.

Abortion touches on our deepest values and basic beliefs. Abortion shows the clashes between two conflicting worldviews. The humanistic says, "Man is the highest standard there is. You don't answer to anyone, so do whatever you want," while the Christian view says, "We answer to God, and he has commanded us not to murder. We must always submit our desires and preferences to the authority of his word" (Abortion: A Biblical View).

As a Christian, I stand strong against abortion due to views and supported points of religious aspects. The bible states that "Thou shalt not murder" (Exodus 20:13), giving supporting detail that one, the woman, should not kill the fetus inside her or it is considered murder. In Psalm 127:3 it is said "Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him” supporting that a baby is something precious and that you should keep the baby because it is a blessing to have conceived it to begin with. Also, in Isaiah 44:2 it states "This is what the Lord says- he who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you" telling us that you made the baby and it is your job to have and care for it. It is you that needs to help raise the baby as they grow through the years.

In conclusion, not everything is consistent and others not always supported but at the end of the day people getting an abortion are going to do what they want no matter the ethical or religious mores. I agree on the conservatives and liberals sharing the common premise that it is wrong to kill an innocent person and therefore agree on the immorality of murder. I hope that these teenagers and woman are educated about their choice to have an abortion because they are the ones that have to live with it for the rest of their lives.
