Campus crime affects individuals involved and hinders societal stability and growth. Some studies have indicated that there has been a rise in school violence. Circumstances surrounding campus crime is dependent on the perpetrators motive and the targeted victim. The offender and the victim are present to take part in the activities happening in the institution. Campus crime includes vandalism, theft, drug and alcohol violations (Fisher & Sloan, 2014). Cutting instruments and knives are mostly used for crime and outweigh the frequency of hand guns. In most cases, the offender is found to have used substances like alcohol, drugs, or both. Simple assault and drug violations, as well as, the destruction of property are common arrest offenses in a campus. This type of crime is difficult to solve because most of the incidents are random. Campus crime has also been on the rise even though it is much easier to handle. Strategies like reviewing past cases, increasing police patrols, and collaboration with FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration will effectively handle the crime of homicide.
