“Allison, no I haven’t seen her since we were all talking earlier. Colleen, you look pale, are you sure everything is alright?” Max put his hand on her shoulder, lightly, in an attempt to slow her down as she peered into the dining room. There was no flash of red hair or sound of a baby cooing. “I just…” Colleen stopped and took a deep breath, leaning against doorframe to steady herself. Alli was fine, Amelia was fine. If they weren’t, there would literally be hell to pay. Brass or not, she would literally rip Mr. Clarkson limb from limb. “I’ll see if I can find Alli. True the ghost didn’t speak, but she could nod her head. However, the hallway was its normal temperature as she walked down the hall calling Alli’s name. She didn’t hear anyone up there, but she continued to call. Her heart was pounding so loud that it wasn’t surprising that she didn’t hear anything. The mirror and vase were still in pieces on the floor. Colleen hadn’t even thought to tell Maggie about it when she was downstairs. Then again, she really didn’t have the time. “The door was unlocked and I remember which door you said it was,” Alli looked her over. “You said we could use it to put Melia down if I needed to. Is that a problem?” “No, no, I was just sure it was locked,” Colleen said slowly as she looked at the door. When she had slipped up here earlier she was positive that she made sure the door was locked behind her. It was an old house, of course there was a chance that the lock didn’t click into place. Or maybe in his exhaustion she hadn’t pulled it all the way closed. “You know, I could have sworn you were calling to me earlier too,” Alli said as she settled back down on the bed.
