“Corporate farming is typically a modernized way of farming and is described as one or a series of companies that practice farming based off a large scale.” (Corporate Farming, 2017) From my point of view, corporate farms are usually looked at as harmful and abusive to animals and to crops. Not all corporate forms of farming fallow this stereotype actually. Even though not all corporate farms are terrible, I personally believe that corporate farms should be eliminated or adjusted to better farming for animals and people. During the “process of eliminating past methods of farming that take more time and allow farmers to produce less, have resulted in terrible animal treatment, as well as giving those animals unnecessary hormones and antibiotics”. (Comparing Agriculture of the Past, n.d.) Corporate farmers are able to produce more livestock at one time, since this is possible it makes it a problem generating off of the animal’s waste. Because of this problem this is causing the surrounding communities too suffer from pollution hazards from chemicals like ammonia and hydrogen. These chemicals are extremely dangerous in large quantities, even if these chemicals are looked at as organic chemicals. This is happening because corporate farms are moving in and are becoming the main producers of the farming industry. Corporate farming is making it difficult for family farms or smaller farms to produce enough crops or have enough livestock to support their farms and families. Most family farms that are still in business and producing crops or livestock are having to find jobs outside of farming, in order to produce enough money, as well as to support their families. “Within the past 30 years, as corporate farms have begun to increase, there has been a significant drop in the number of smaller farms that produce grain.” (Wittmaak, 2006) This is why more cities are becoming populated and more roads are coming in and taking over towns because smaller farms are having to migrate farm life to city life. Also, farming is starting to become available indoors, which is providing consumers to purchase and use their crops and meats faster and when the crops are fresher. The government is also controlling more and more corporate farming. Since the government has controlled, more chemicals and waste are produced. The government can also controlled the use of animals and what animals are used for. With family farms, the government did not have control over the chemicals that was used, if any, to produce meats and
