Coretta Scott King Coretta Scott King was a civil rights activist and wife to Martin Luther King Jr. who was a civil rights leader. Coretta helped lead many civil right movements and campaigns. Coretta inspired many people, and still stands for nonviolence and peace today. Coretta worked side by side with her husband, Martin Luther King Jr. for many years leading up to his death.
