Control of Knowledge

Before answering such an extensive query, one should resort to the

ancient philosopher, Socrates by using his Socratic Method, which

questions the question itself, therefore we should really ask, “Can

knowledge be controlled?”

The answer to this question will vary and depend on ones unique

perspective of knowledge. When you will look up knowledge in a

dictionary the definition will be:

“the information and understanding that you have gained through the

learning or experience” other than the keywords underlined the word

knowledge has also been associated with wisdom, awareness, practice

and skill.

There are many aspects of knowledge that many would categorize in

order of priority, relevance and importance, such as social

knowledge-which we can be conditioned to e.g. through tradition or

follow through an international set of rules known as protocol,

Personal Knowledge which we gain through many ways, one way would be

by experience, wisdom, acquaintance and learning. It can also be

learnt through introspection, empathy, conscience and morals-which are

different for everyone, according to Socrates “all wrong doing was

based on ignorance, that no one really wants for any bad to happen.”

Personal knowledge can also come through practice, Belief and faith.

Another aspect of knowledge comes through natural instinct this is

known as subconscious knowledge, for example a human being has a

natural ability to reflex e.g. if a car is speeding your way your

natural instinct would be to duck from it to avoid it. Feminine

instinct is commonly used to describe a female’s strong sense, though

it is argued that animals have a stronger instinct than humans, this

is probably due to there environmental conditioning.

Other than these main elements of knowledge what/ who else moulds our

minds?

Through my observation of this question I have learnt that if anything

for sure, one can never be omniscient. Knowledge varies and changes

throughout each proceeding day, you can learn and be certain over a

theory or information and then it could turn out to be irrelevant or
