Weapons in the workplace has been a legal issue in the business field for years. Many liability issues has risen that concerns employees’ rights and workplace safety. Laws have been passed at the state and federal levels that will allow United State citizens to carry concealed weapons, once they have received a concealed weapon permit. However, several businesses will not allow their employees to carry their weapons, may it be in their offices, on their person or in their vehicles. The purpose of this paper is to examine the laws and regulations that do not allow and do allow employees to bring weapons to work. I will also be examining the pros and cons of allowing employees to carry conceal weapons in the workplace. So that we may see how some companies are implementing their rules and regulations for concealed weapons carrying in the workplace, I have obtain a weapons policy from a local business. Concealed Weapons in the Workplace In the United States, many states have passed laws, which allow their citizens to carry concealed weapons. Policies to obtain the necessary permits for concealed weapons vary from state to state, and some of those policies are very lenient. For example, let us look at the laws and policies to obtain a concealed weapons permit in Illinois. Being a resident of Illinois, you must go to the local sheriff’s department of the county that you reside in with your Driver’s license or a State ID, along with two references. You will inform the clerk that you are interested in applying for a concealed weapon permit and then proceed to filling out whatever forms necessary. The fee for this is thirty to forty dollars and if you are a valid candidate, you will receive your permit in a few weeks. As long as we understand the responsibility and are prepared, concealed carry is a practical way to defend yourself, love ones, and co-workers. Be aware of the laws of your state, it is important. It is important to know locations and venues, where it is always illegal to carry a gun. There are two venues that guns are excluded from that is sporting events and school campuses. The misfire of a weapon in one of these venues, or threatening someone, or showing someone the weapon can cause a major panic. Concealed weapons in college campus’s have been a big issue since the mass shootings in Virginia Tech and Northern Illinois Universities. Allowing for guns to be allowed in college campus’s would be a bad thing to do since it would create additional risks for students, even if weapons were allowed it wouldn’t deter the shooter, and it would detract from a healthy learning environment. So far there is only five states , Colorado, Mississippi, Oregon, Utah, and Wisconsin, that allow “concealed carry” at school campus.

A victim with a gun is no longer a victim because they can not fight back against the attacker. Therefore, they can save their lives and save lives of the public which need help at that moment. As of 2013, all 50 states allow concealed carry of handguns (Concealed Carry Reciprocity Maps), although a few states don’t require a permit and the standards for licensing vary greatly from state to state. In the U.S. most states are “Shall Issue” states. This means they will grant anybody a permit that meets certain guidelines such as being 21 or older and not having any felony convictions, a history of mental illness or domestic abuse. A handful of other states are “May Issue” states. In these other states, such as Maryland, a permit will only be issued if you can prove you need it. This can be a large obstacle and these states will usually only issue permits to people in the public eye, wealthy individuals that are well-connected or business owners frequently transporting large sums of cash (Concealed Carry Reciprocity Maps). Although the requirements and standards are different wherever you may live, one thing holds true- concealed carry permit holders are rapidly growing. The market for handgun training, concealed carry courses and smaller, more concealable handguns have opened up. When concealed carry was first gaining popularity there were two very different schools of thought. Some thought that violent crime would decrease, as criminals would fear the everyday person that just may happen to be armed. Others thought that having people carrying around concealed handguns in public would lead to an increase in violent crime with people losing their temper and shooting each other. When analyzing the data and crime trends, it is clear that with this influx of concealed carry permit holders there has not been a corresponding increase in violent crime.
Many Americans are now applying for a license to carry licensed concealed arms with them. The rate at which licenses are being approved is worrying. This development is concerning law enforcement authorities. Putting so many firearms at the disposal of the public is counterproductive to the gains that are being made on improving security and especially in the cities where incidences of gun crime and violence are on the rise.

Shooting on people and killing them is a big issue in the world and different comments are provided about that. One of the most important of them is about gun control laws. Stingl (2013) says “The term gun control as it is used in the United States refers to any action taken by the federal government or by state or local governments to regulate, through legislation, the sale, purchase, safety, and use of handguns and other types of firearms by individual citizens.” According to this idea gun control laws should be stricter and people should not be able to have access to guns easily. However, there are many other people who believe this idea is not a good solution and never help. This essay will demonstrate for and against views about the topic. People who agree with this idea consider: firstly, stricter laws will reduce violence and gun control means crime control. Secondly, some research shows people with gun are more at risks of getting shot. Thirdly, guns can always be misused by their owners and finally, stricter law is the best and the faster way to control crime and make community safe. While opponents say first of all, guns are necessary for people safety and protection. Secondly, guns are not the only tools for killing and violence; there are other weapons too and finally, gun ownership is human rights.

In May 1987, Florida passed a “shall-issue” law that became a model for other states. There were 11 states that have the “may-issue” law which allowed permits.
