The purpose of writing this reflective account is to reflect upon a view of conducting competencies based interview and the personal development that I had encountered during the interview. Competencies based interview is the method to assist the interviewer access the candidate by using behavioural question (Kessler, 2006). There are four people in a group to conduct a competencies based interview. One of the members will be the interviewee and the others will hold different position. When we were deciding on the position, it was difficult to choose among the team members. Therefore, cooperation between the team members was crucial. At last, one of the team member willing to be the interviewee and we started to discuss the responsibility of every team members as well as distributed task. Way to improve the performance of the group is break down the barrier. For example, every of the team member should share idea and what they think to the group. So, barrier between the group member will not happen and every of the team member can performance well with sharing out the different idea. …show more content…

Line manager has the responsibility in managing the team or the employees. (CIPD, 2014). Line manager got the responsibility to evaluate the candidate’s competence and behaviour. This is because the candidate might be the future employee to work with. For my part, I asked the candidate about team working skill. I asked the question based on STAR technique. From this activity, I learned how to set competencies based question and how to be an effective line manager in the interview section. My personal development plan is to improve presentation skills. Way to improve this skill is to practice more and hold every chance to present in the public. Hence, I can improve my presentation skill which brings benefit to my future career. I will achieve this goal in one year
