Comparison: The Flintstones And The Jetsons

The Jetsons and The Flintstones are similar, but yet they have many differences. They are both shows that watched by many. While many may like one show better there are a majority that like them both. In my opinion I think the Jetsons are better but I still like The Flintstones too.

The Differences
The Jetsons
The Jetsons lived in the future up in space. There are flying cars and machines that make breakfast, lunch, and dinner in under five minutes. The kids travel to school by tube and sit in hovering desks. Traveling tubes are similar to elevators but go in more directions than up and down. that took you from one destination to the next. Spacely, makes gears for anything that needs gears. Mr. Spacely is a small man with a huge temper often yelling at George for small things. He cares a great deal about making lots and lots of money.

The Flintstones
The Flintstones live in prehistoric times (Stone Age). They used their feet to ¨drive¨ their car that was built out of sticks, cement and animal skin. Their house looked somewhat like a cave with a chimney. Everything from curtains to clothes to carpet, was animal skin. They were also often surrounded by dinosaurs even worked with them! Even though they lived in the stone age they were still up to date in the technology because they had a tv.

Compared to The Jetsons the The Flintstones where a blue collar family. Fred Flintstone worked at Slate Rock and Gravel Company as a bronto crane operator. Fred worked on top of a dinosaurs's . Moving a pulley-like system to raise the dinosaurs head up and down, moving rocks from one place to another. Mr. Slate was Fred Flintstone's boss just like George Jetson Mr. Slate would often get on Fred Flintstone’s case. In The Jetsons the daughter is around fifteen and the son around five or six. In The Flintstones their kids are toddlers. The son in The Jetsons is usually playing some type of sport and the daughter going to hang-out with her friends or going shopping a lot.

In both shows you can also notice they have a tv. In the 50’s and early 60’s was when tv’s first became popular. It seemed as if they were trying to pitch the idea of tv’s to people. Even though very few can tell The Jetsons aired in color but most tv’s could only be seen in black and white. As seeing that we are on the topic of trying to sell ideas The Flintstones would smoke Winston Cigarettes in order to get people to buy them.

Both shows also had pets that were to act as dogs. The Jetsons had a dog named Astro and The Flintstones had a purple dinosaur named Deeno that acted like a dog. The dog in The Jetsons could talk unlike Deeno, which he couldn’t. The dogs were mostly well trained on account of they sometimes would annoy the fathers/husbands. The families seemed to really enjoy their pets.
