Slavery during the Civil War caused the nation to split into two and created a madhouse because of the rights Americans were held back to. Slavery caused the separation between families and Americans. Black people were held back as slaves that made the nation divided into two. Sojourner truth and Frederick Douglass were African Americans who were held back as slaves against for their rights for freedom. Slave owners punished their slaves who disobeyed their rules. African Americans couldn’t enjoy the freedom that white people took for granted. The Civil War restored Americans ideas about freedom by settling the division created by slavery. She gave a speech of women's freedom and rights of “Ain’t I A Woman?”The speech inspired woman/people to agree with being against slavery and having the freedom for people’s rights.
