Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway at 18 and had three children, twin girls and a son, with her. Throughout his life, Shakespeare’s parents did not approve of his choice to be an actor and neither did his wife. Joining Lord Chamberlain’s men, Shakespeare invested his money and became quite wealthy from doing so. In 1594 the plague closed theaters for two years, and because it was closing theaters nearly every year after, he moved back to Stratford and then retired there in 1610. During his time in Stratford he wrote 2 more famous poems, “Venus and Adonis” and “The Rape of Lucrece”. Critics praised his work and he became known as “The Bard”.
