How did the Aztec and Inca civilisations live before the spanish conquest? Over hunting killed seven animal species in America, civilisations started to settle down and develop skills like growing crops for example maize and beans. This allowed the civilisation to live in larger numbers, for example “Tenochtitlan had a population of 200,000 whereas Spain had a population of 70,000. Aztecs lived in Tenochtitlan, which is modern day Mexico and Incas lived in the biggest American empire at the time which is modern day Peru. These civilisations were very complex and already had magnificent architecture, complex social structures and, religions and beliefs. Spain did eventually become rich from the silver, but inflation and the cost of their wars left them damaged.
