Throughout society, the perception of superheroes was formed by human imagination for one to model him/herself after, also known as a role model. However, thoughts and opinions about superheroes have changed through years, which has caused the classic hero and the modern day hero to have some pretty obvious differences between them; for example Beowulf and Michael Jackson. The epic poem “Beowulf” was one of the first works of English literature, it explores his heroic actions between the battle with, Grendel, Grendel's mother, and the Dragon. He was born and grew up in a strict working family in Gary, Indiana. As early as 5 years old Jackson showed an interest in music along with most of his family. He began his music career as the lead singer of the Jackson 5 which consisted of him and his four brothers, this was how MJ pathway to fame was founded. He created many songs that inspired people throughout the world which changed the music industry forever. A hero not only needs to be physically outstanding, but he also needs to have integrity, moral values and needs to act without thinking in his own benefit. Beowulf has many characteristics of a hero but he also has some defects that make me think that he wouldn’t be considered a hero in today´s world. A hero concept evolves with a culture, Beowulf has many things that the Anglo-Saxons viewed as heroism but he misses many things that are important for a modern hero.

Though it is true that there are several correlations between the hero Beowulf and Superman, also known as Clark Kent, there are also quite a few differences. Beowulf is the hero of the of an old English epic passed down form word of mouth. On the other hand, Superman is a comic character in the DC universe.
