There are three different branches in the government, the executive branch, legislative branch, and the judicial branch. The Executive Branch which carries out or executes laws, basically the executive branch is the big guy so far the President, the commander in Chief and all those other names. He basically approves and carries out the laws that the legislative branch passes. Now we move on to the legislative branch. The legislative branch is made up of the two houses of Congress The House of Representatives and The Senate. The House and Senate’s most important job is to make the laws, these laws are discussed and voted on by Congress. Not every president is not “Mr. Goody Goody,” there have been presidents who have stepped out of line, for example when President Nixon recorded everything in the oval office, you’re not supposed to do that. How about when President Andrew Jackson ignored the Supreme Court when Georgia had right to Cherokee land. Let’s go a little more into depth on this case. On May 28, 1830, President Andrew Jackson had indians removed from the southern states. But the tribes didn’t go that easy it was only in the year of 1832 when Andrew Jackson won his presidential election with a landslide. All tribal leaders agreed to leave their home land and get relocated. After signing those treaties the indians only had two options the first option was to give up their homeland, move onto a reservation and still be able to have their way of life, or their second option to keep their homeland but had to follow the United States rules, which meant they had to give up their rights. So they took giving up their homeland moving to a reservation and keeping their way of life. This is also known as the Indian Removal Act.
