Virginia and Massachusetts were colonies created by English men that left Europe. In the years of 1580 and 1650 England population expanded to more than 5 million . The expansion brought economic problems to England people were desperate for work. Many families couldn’t afford money for food because the expansion drove up the prices. The expansion and poverty forced people to migrate to other countries. For those English men, America was the easiest solution to their problems because in America they would have a place where they could support their families. Many of the English immigrants came to America with the need to give their families a better life style. Some of them wanted to find wealth in America. The two settlements Virginia and Massachusetts were the result of families’ quest for a better future in the new world. The pilgrims were a group of religious Puritans who migrated to America in search of religious freedom. In 1601 inside the Church Anglican, also known as the Church of England there was a division. The puritans ended up outside the official religion. In 1620 when the first settlement of puritans arrived at Plymouth Massachusetts they created the Mayflower Compact.
