There are many things to enjoy about artificial turf, from the way you feel when you sprint on it, to the way it looks, but there are consequently many downsides of having artificial turf, and plus sides of having natural grass. Having natural grass is excellent because it’s cheap, environmentally friendly, and helps with many other things. While artificial turf looks amazing, and it’s easy to run on, natural grass feels better, and is more skin friendly. Here are just a few of the many similarities and differences natural grass and artificial turf have. With natural grass, the cost is drastically less. While installing artificial turf costs as much as 900,000 dollars, the price of natural grass is about 53,000 dollars. The price of the two fields is so dramatically different, that it is worth the money to stay with a natural field. With all the extra money, the infinite possibilities of upgrades on your field are incredible, from new equipment to keeping your grass clean, mowed, and green. Although natural grass is quite cheap, you must maintain it round the year, but with artificial turf, you must maintain it, but slightly less than that of a natural field. …show more content…
Communities would rather prefer natural grass because they may use them for many more activities, but with artificial turfs, they need to be raked after every usage, causing problems with multiple activities after each turn. Yes, natural grass may be kicked up, and the grass would become dead, but it repairs quite quickly. Natural grass is mainly preferred because the grass is child friendly, though artificial turf is rough and could harm children that trip or fall frequently. Natural grass is loved by most of the community because the grass is quite soft, and easy to run on, while on artificial turf, you need cleats or better shoes that have more traction on the soles of the
In today's society, organic food is a giant new thing in which food is produced without any chemicals. In other words, the product must be 100 percent natural. A major food source of the American people is meat, and the way that it is produced today is a major issue. In feedlots, where cattle are fed grain to grow before being slaughtered, the conditions are terrible and horrifying. Cattle are confined to a limited amount of space and not allowed to roam freely. Also in these cattle growing yards, the risk of disease is much higher in these animals than out on the open range grazing on the grass. Beef critics say that there are no cattle breeds that posses the amounts of marbling present to make a good steak. It is a true statement to say that these critics are very indeed wrong. Also, Many people also do not know that that the meat from cattle that are fed grain, is high in fat content and has too much marbling. Grass-fed beef is much leaner than grain-fed beef, has less fats, and is produced all naturally. Therefore, grass-fed beef is much healthier and safer to eat than grain-fed beef.
Play style, rules differences, and passion for the game are on field differences between college football, and the NFL. There are also many off field differences, including money. Most general things about the game, are still the same though. Due to the differences between college football and the NFL, college football is more enjoyable to watch as a fan.
The debate on artificial turf continues to rage on. Artificial turf has been structurally designed to be a safer surface than grass and to be unaffected by weather. Have engineers succeeded in their goal? It has been said that artificial turf has different properties than grass, and when forces act upon it, artificial turf reacts differently and causes more injuries. I have played the majority of my sports on artificial turf over the last couple years. I have always wondered if the artificial turf has any effect on injuries. Obviously I want to play on the safest surface possible. Is artificial turf that surface? This paper will answer the research question: In what ways does artificial turf affect player injuries?
Ball movement of a ball has disadvantages and advantages on turf or grass. A flat terrain that turf has creates condition for ball bounciness and movement to be smooth. Grass sometimes has an uneven surface. An uneven surface can disrupt ball movement and the bounce of a ball can be difficult to read or predict where the ball will
Indoor soccer began in 1939, was formed by Major Indoor Soccer League, it started so people could play during the winter months. The North American Soccer League had its own indoor league from 1979-1984. Some of the differences from outdoor soccer are: there were only five players on the field and the goalkeeper, the goals are smaller, and the field is smaller. The field is like a hockey rink with astro-turf field surrounded with Plexiglas. The soccer goals are also built into the wall. This is a very fast paced game with four periods of 15 minutes each.
Even though conventionally grown foods are cheaper it is worthwhile to invest into buying organic foods because they are healthier. It has been proven that many organic foods dramatically reduce pesticide levels, lower cholesterol, and create a healthy environment. In addition, feeding the livestock with natural foods is more humane and allows the animals to avoid constant antibiotic injections. Organic foods are not only safer for our immune system but also better for the environment.
A theme in W.P. Kinsella’s “The Thrill of the Grass” is change, for better or for worse, affords the opportunity for us to acknowledge our emotions and love of memories and encourages us to stand up for what we truly believe in. Change, sentiment, reminiscence and defiance are portrayed through the protagonist and the plot in this admiringly, well written short story.
The first soccer ball was a rubber soccer ball made of pig or ox bladder with leather in the 1800s (The Science of Soccer, 1998). At that time it was difficult to make a regular shaped ball and maintain it while playing. By the 1900s most soccer balls were made of rubber bladder instead of animal bladder. It was found that soccer balls made with animal bladder were harder and wouldn’t lose their shape. Even though it was easier to kick the ball the soccer ball absorbed lots of water if it rained and made the ball very hard which caused head injuries. In the late 1980s the leather casing inside was replaced by artificial casing which was used in most of Europe. In modern day the soccer balls are still made of artificial casing which you can pump air into through a little hole on the top of the casing (FIFA magazine, 1998). An adult soccer ball has a circumference of 25 to 27 inches and weighs 14 ounces. On the other hand a kid’s soccer ball is 24 inches in circumference and weighs a little less than an adult soccer ball (“Soccer”, 2002).
Furthermore, Soccer is similar to American football. They both play in a rectangular shape field of natural grass or artificial turf, marked with white lines. They both have two goals on each end. In American football, they kick the ball as well. They kick it at the start of each half and after making a touchdown. Like similarities, they also have differences.
Women soccer players should receive the same field conditions as the men do. The women practice on grass then plays matches on turf. They do not have the chance to practice and establish a feel for turf before they play the game. As for the men, they practice on grass and play their games on grass. They do not have to face
Enjoy the longevity of organic mattresses. Organic latex mattresses last longer because they include no polyesters or foams that flatten out or break down. Natural latex organic mattresses outlive synthetics. You should watch out for mattresses claiming to be an “organic blend” or “natural latex” as these marketing ploys do not offer true all-natural products. Many of these “natural” mattresses are stuffed with layers of synthetics and petroleum based fillers. Know what you’re getting before you buy.
I would differ from Sokolowski in my definition of artificial, by not distinguishing between the light and the paper in this way. The argument for the paper flower being apparent is still too ambiguous. To explain: for the most part of my experience with artificial light, it has been distinguishable from natural light. In my corner of the world, natural or daylight light bulbs only became available recently. Therefore, I have to argue that the comparison between natural and artificial could have been made differently by someone with a different perspective. In the same way, lets consider the converse for the paper flower, and propose someone make a flower that looks very real...
Synthetic fertilizers are harmful to the environment. The fertilizer is acidic and contains mineral salts that can damage the roots of plants and the soil. It is true that synthetic fertilizers contain the three main elements needed to fertilize plants: nitrogen...
If we say that something is "natural" as it is how it is intended to be, we must ask intended by whom. A chair and a table are used for certain purposes, and they serve those purposes well; we can conclude that they are the way they were intended to be, so would we consider the chair as being "natural"? I believe that most would not, as the chair was created by man, which again brings us back to the "untouched by man" definition. Or do we mean that something is natural if it is in a state as intended by God, or some supernatural force? This would bring us into the metaphysical realm, and so instead we shall say "as intended" in a general sense, not by any specific person or thing, but as it was found within nature.
Home gardens offer a wide variety of benefits to the environment and serve a diverse group of people. Home gardening provides a source of fresh produce and free of chemicals, it also gives you complete control over the chemicals and products used during the growing process. A home garden allows you to pick the produce when its ripe, unlike produce at the store is often picked before its fully ripe. The quality and flavor of the freshly picked produce from home is better than the produce that might have unknown chemicals and was likely picked several days or weeks before being sold. The produce retains more nutrients when consumed shortly after being picked, making your home garden vegetables a healthier option. A garden also provides a positive environmental impact. The compost allows you to recycle certain kitchen and yard waste into a nutrient-rich additive for the garden. This provides natural fertilizer for you plants and reduces the wastes you produce. If you choose to avoid or limit chemical use, you reduce pollution from your gardening activities. Besides being good for the environment gardens have environmental gains for us. Gardening help control urban temperatures, If the environmental landscape design is effective it can cool your home in summer and warm it in winter, it can also reduce the energy cost by up to 20%. Gardening, and all the physical activity that goes along with it, leads to a better overall physical health, weight loss, improve you bones, and reduces the risk of having osteoporosis. “In a study of 3,310 older women, researchers from the University of Arkansas found that women involved in yard work and other types of gardening exercises had lower rates of osteoporosis than joggers, swimmers, and women wh...
