September 11 2001, and December 7 1941 were two of the most tragic days in American history which caused a lot of Americans to lose their precious life's . On September 11 2001, over 2,996 people were killed and more the 6,000 people injured . The four planes that were in the air , consisted of 265 people who died instantly due to the crash . In addition, on December 7, 1941 there were over 2,403 deaths, 188 destroyed planes, and 8 battleship that were destroyed and or damaged. He was from Saudi Arabia and was Muslim . Muslim make up 100% of the society in Saudi Arabia. They are very religious and conservative , traditional and family oriented . They have a very intense culture as well . They pray five times a day at dawn , noon , afternoon, and sunset at the time listed on the local newspaper that is out everyday . Such uncalled for actions threaten the security of American citizens, provoking the U.S. Government to take action. Roosevelt wanted to persuade the US to go to war after the attack on Pearl Harbor while President George W. Bush wanted to comfort the Americans after the 9/11 tragedy. Both presidents got their points across when delivering their speeches through the use of diction, anaphoras, and rhetorical appeals. While Franklin D. Roosevelt established a formal and assertive tone to motivate the Americans, George W. Bush went for an informal and sentimental tone to reassure the Americans.

9/11 is a horrific moment in history, and is well recognized for it’s spawn of mass hysteria in America. Because of this, The Crucible and 9/11 are highly similar in that both situations caused people to become so fearful and paranoid to the point where they began to treat others unfairly, and become more vulnerable/gullible to people’s selfish schemes. In the Crucible, the people of Salem wished for there to be safety in their town and in their religion. However the fear of witchcraft interfered with that, causing a mass hysteria to flood throughout the town. They began to point fingers.
