Many students know the positive and negative effects that can come from eating healthy versus eating unhealthy. College students are often in a rush, so they do not have time to consume the proper foods consisted in a well-balanced diet. Many students will go days off of strictly fast food because it is the more convenient option when they are on the go. Some will just cut out entire meals throughout the day relying on snacks or not eating at all. College students lack healthy eating habits, which can cause serious problems. Lots of students do not even know what a well-balanced diet may consist of or even the proper amounts of food they should consume each day.
The human body needs an assortment of foods; fast foods, do not off all of the nutrition the body needs. Generally when eating well-balanced diets in college students should consume six to 11 servings of grains, cereals and pasta each day to give off energy the body needs. As well as, eating three to five servings of fruits and vegetables each day, which help provide the necessary vitamins to the body. To get the required amounts of calcium and protein the body needs, students should try to consume anywhere from two to three servings of dairy and poultry products. Not only are students failing to eat according to the suggested diet, but some students are generally just not eating. This is also a major problem that could cause bigger problems than bad eating habits. 92.2 percent of the surveyed students stating that they do not consume the proper amounts of fruits and vegetables that should be consumed on a daily basis.
