Community service means bettering the lives for the people around you. An example of community service could be as small as holding a door open for someone or as big as building shelters for the homeless because community service has no limit to how big or small it can be. It is not only an opportunity to better a community, but also I see it as an opportunity to better yourself because you can learn many important lessons through doing it. My first ever clear memory of community service was when I was in Kindergarten. Our class went with high schoolers to deliver meals to people in apartments in a very poor part of town. This is the first time I truly believed and acknowledged how blessed I was. It is a totally different to experience something rather than just to hearing it. Mark’s School of Texas, it seems like many High Schoolers look at community service as another task waiting to be done like homework or chores. In my scenario, community service is something I enjoy to do because I know I'm helping someone else through doing it. Just about every weekday, I get downstairs early and make breakfast for my sister and I. Even though this might seem only like a small act, I get satisfaction from it because I know I have made my Mom’s day a little easier. I am also involved in Boy Scouts, and whenever there is an opportunity to do community service, I do my best to get there and help out. Also, I try to respect everyone and not make fun of others because if I knew I was them; I wouldn't appreciate being made fun of.
