Student community service is usually a learning partnership of students and the University with voluntary services which include activities that take place off the school grounds like the children’s home, unfortunate communities like the slum areas, hospitals, old people's home and other areas in the community and its intentions are to benefit the larger community.
Community Service learning provides students with experiences that can be connected to course content, so that they gain both of what Hussey and Smith (2002) note as “knowledge that” (knowledge of facts, rules, procedures) and “knowledge how” (learned skills and abilities). The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) defines service learning as combining community service with academic instruction, focusing on critical, reflective thinking and personal and civic responsibility. …show more content…

For example children with mentally disability conditions like Autisms, Hyperactivity, Speech impairments, Cerebral Palsy and Learning disabilities such as Dyslexia. I have always had a passion to help children and Songa Mbele being one of the places I volunteered, I feel that I need to do more than what I did.
The purpose of this report is to explain the background of the organization, my feelings about the organization, the activities I performed during community service, learned experiences/gained knowledge during the performance, critical appraisal and its activities, challenges I faced during community service. The report will also provide sufficient recommendations on how to improve the centre and conclusion of my report.
