A college education has become a necessity in today’s society. Money should not limit the opportunities of a brilliant mind. A child who is currently homeless may have the capability of becoming a world leader or curing cancer. Colleges should be free to attend and funded by the U.S. government because it will help students focus on their studies and encourage them to work harder in school.
Tuition free colleges should be given because it helps students focus on their studies rather than their jobs. The students will study well and use their time in productive way instead of thinking about their financial situation. The push for free-college plans would also turn American higher education into a government- administered program (Kelly). Education is a key factor in the economic and social development of a country. The federal funding flows directly to public institution that are subject to federal rules. Free tuitions help the unprivileged families deserve an opportunity to get the best education. Lack of money should not stop a student from learning. Providing a free public option might actually diminish some students’ chances of finishing a degree. Tuition caps might result in rationing, not increasing enrollment (Kelly). The other risk is the increase in taxes so the government can use them and pay for the colleges. People might not agree and many people might think that the country is wasting its time and money. Free-college plans will impact the quality of education and enrollment (Kelly). When the cost of education is free teachers and professor might teach the content in a different way and might not put as much effort while teaching.
