One of my life long goals has been perusing psychiatry. Psychiatry to me is a way to truly make an effective difference in my community. From a young age, I have always had a desire to help others around me, however I did not have a concrete understanding of how I could accomplish this goal. I considered serving on the police force, or taking up arms and joining the United States Army. It was not until my junior year of high school that I discovered a passion that kindled a desire within me. The class that truly inspired me was my AP Psychology class. The introduction to the human mind, and the intricate innerworkings of the brain inspired me to peruse therapy. Through therapy one can greatly improve a patient’s mental and physical state. I picked psychiatry as my main goal because through this honorable degree I have the unique ability to assist patients in a wide variety of ways. …show more content…

I would like to start a family, and live life full of purpose and change. I will remain active in my community, giving my time to those who are in desperate need of it. Whether its aiding at local soup kitchens, or donating to any service that needs it. My hope is that I can contribute to my community, and my efforts can create a more positive change. Through college I will obtain a vast array of knowledge that will grant me the capacity to be efficient in my pursuit of higher education. I will be majoring in psychology, and minoring in biology. These degrees will help better prepare me for the more advanced schooling that lies ahead. From that point on I plan on attending a medical school to obtain my masters in psychology, and obtain a MD. The medical school that I am currently looking at is the Carver College of Medicine at Iowa University. From this school I will become prepared to preform my occupation with care and
