Writing clearly and concisely means choosing your words deliberately, constructing your sentences carefully, and using grammar properly. By writing clearly and concisely, you will get straight to the point in a way your audience can easily understand.

In order to succeed in your communication task, you need to keep your audience’s attention. Writing clearly and concisely is one way to capture and retain their interest. Alternatively, rambling on, may lose your audience’s attention.

Choose your words deliberately
The words you choose can either enhance or interfere with your meaning and your audience’s understanding. Follow the guidelines we will discuss to develop a strategy for choosing the most effective words for your task.
Use simple words: People tend to understand simple words more quickly, even if they’re familiar with a more elaborate synonym. An example would be using the word ‘begin’ instead of ‘commence’ or ‘send’ instead of ‘transmit’. Though you may be familiar with a technical processes and its related terminology, if your entire audience does not understand the technical terms, do not use them. Specific: The X Company is developing a new cell phone.
Eliminate unnecessary words: Unnecessary words can come in many forms. Similar to vague words, they may conceal instead of reveal your intended meaning. Some examples may be: using excessive detail, repetitive words, or redundant words.
