Evaluation apprehension is a term used to describe the felt anxiety by a person performing a task to others. This anxiety rises due to the thought of being rated negatively or failure to receive a positive feedback. It occurs mostly where participants are rated or researchers observing them (Akers, 2013).
To explain the evaluation apprehension the article groupthink from the online was chosen which is written by Tuhus-Dubrow in 2008 to discuss the effects of the internet to students and others. The result of a certain research with high popularity leaves students vulnerable to groupthink. Groupthink occurs when faulty decisions are made because there were pressures leading to a reduction of efficiency in mind, moral judgment, and reality testing. A group discussion is vulnerable to the groupthink in case all its members are from a similar background, when the group is being insulated from opinions outside the discussion and when there are no rules in making the group decision.
The article "group think" shows how the internet has made easier to access a research. Due to the

There are many journal articles in the online which are helping students to do research but the main problem comes when one is compiling the work creating an anxiety that he/she might not have positive feedback from the others students whom he /she thinks understood better. The internet is the groupthink example because students are not selective in choosing when searching for results and tend to pick one choice. This one choice may have narrow information on the topic of discussion creating the anxiety to the student that he/she may be rated negatively by
The majority of students prefer studying with group of people. Thanks to the Internet it allows students to work together collaborating with ideas and knowledge at the same time. For example, last quarter in my world politics class, I send out an email with two links that helped the whole class study for the midterm. I send out a Google doc’s link that helped the class organize their notes and a Skype link to answer any questions face to face video chat over the sections that they needed help understanding. The amazing part about Google docs is that multiple classmates would edit the document at the same time. Many students found this studying method useful not because they gain better grades, but they got to meet new students on campus and allowing them to be social connected through social media. On the other hand, Stoll may argue that students may face loneliness and depression, which in reality Internet has help students meet other students and become friends. Therefore, Students should keep studying in groups sessions online meet other students on campus to become
One of the most widely used technologies is the Internet, or also known as the World Wide Web. “In August 1981 about 200 computers hosted Web servers. By July 1998 there were over 36 million Web servers, that are hosts to approximately 150 million people” (Strauss). The Internet proves to be very beneficial to education, since students have unlimited access to millions of websites with tons of information. There are only so many newspapers, journals and magazines that you can find in libraries or subscribe to. Therefore, the Internet offers an unlimited pile of information that students can always have. Moreover, students are enriched with the most current information in any subject, along with regular updates. Students are able to use the Internet anytime of day, as long as they have a computer at hand. The research process will not have to end when the school day is over (Wissick, 82).
Since the invention of the world wide web in 1989 by Tim Berners-Lee, the global spread of information has become increasingly easy, as more and more resources become available online. The internet can be a useful tool in research and a great way to accumulate valuable information and knowledge, and can be a medium used to spark intelligent and meaningful discussions, but only if used correctly. Poor navigation of the surplus of content available online can lead to a sinkhole of inaccurate and, frankly, bullshit sources. Attempts at academic communication via online sources can devolve into echo rooms or mindless, childish retorts.
Often in life things do not go as planned. This was the case when I was applying to schools to observe. Initially I applied to Abington Senior to observe. I gave them my clearances and I emailed the head of the education department as they instructed. For some strange reason the department head did not respond to any of my emails.
I will post my lesson plans online at teacher pay teachers so that anyone who wanted to
During my observation at Fred Moore I was able to experience how teachers use rating scales in their classroom. The two teachers in the classroom were talking about were on a scale they were able to self-sooth and follow directions. The teachers were playing with the children as they talked and observed. One of the teachers said to the other who was standing behind the wall writing things down, “Well, Jackson has a hard time some times, so he still needs improvement.” They talked about a few more children in the self-soothing department and then talked about how well they followed directions. Isenberg and Durham (2015) define a ratings scale as an observational tool that helps identify different sets of behaviors, by requiring that a teacher make a professional judgment on a particular behavior. The rating scale ranks behaviors in numbers such as one to five or in words such as “never,” “sometimes,” “usually,” or “always” to determine were a child falls on the scale (Isenberg & Durham, 2015).
...ent of students” in small group work and can be used to enhance investigations and learning of concepts. Technology is an integral part of students’ everyday lives so incorporating computers will allow for students to be thoroughly engaged in activities. Technology also allows students to explore and express their understandings on a world wide platform via the internet, through information gathering, networking and publishing programs. INFORMATION SUPERHIGHWAY The internet has improved the way the world is able to access information. Though some may argue that information obtained through the internet is sometimes unreliable, most will agree that when used correctly, the internet is an asset for conducting research, connecting with friends, or simply watching videos. For example, it is because of the internet that online classes, Facebook, Snapchat, and YouTube are enjoyed by millions of people around the world. While the openness of the Internet can make it difficult to distinguish between credible and inaccurate information, there are safeguards available for every user. Notably, the student can access information from scholarly peer-reviewed articles to ensure accuracy when conducting research.
For my observation hours I was in a regular first grade classroom with about 20 students. There were not many students in the class with exceptionalities, only a few with ADD. One student seemed to have some behavior issues outside of the classroom, but was fine in the classroom. He hasn’t been to a doctor to be diagnosed with anything specific. ADD is defined as a developmental disorder which has persistent symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity or all three.
Online education can help encourage people to become independent, self-direct themselves, and socially communicate while not relying heavily upon the teacher for everything. This is achieved by maintaining a balance between the individual work, class discussions and group projects, and by skillful facilitation of course discussions with the professor that helps lead students to self-learning and participating in teamwork from other colleagues. Rovai stated, “Johnson and Johnson (1994) identified five essential components of small-group collaborative learning: (a) clear, positive independence among students; (b) regular group self-evaluation; (c) interpersonal behaviors that promote each member’s learning and success; (d) individual accountability and personal responsibility; and (e) frequent use of appropriate interpersonal and small group skills” (Rovai, 87). Learning through one another is successful when the whole group agrees on the outcome that symbolizes a synthesis each person’s contribution. Every person in the group is supposed to contribute to the work and aid others making the team successful. Small group work may ...
The Internet has made it easy for researchers to obtain information. No longer do you have to travel to get rare documents they are now just a few clicks away.
After going through this section a reader might feel convince that most of the papers study brought forth were done in a purpose of showing the importance and benefits of online collaboration systems in terms of learning as this study assumed.
This article made some interesting evaluations; online learning was a big dilemma for me when I decided to go back to school. While I possessed the discipline to attend online, I did however lack the skills needed to maneuver within my course of study. After attending a classroom-based school with some online classes, I made a decision to continue my studies online. The teachers design and interaction meets my level of understanding and when I’m not sure of an assignment, I simply contact them via e-mail. I feel the author did a great job in addressing his chosen topic, showing both the strengths and the weaknesses of his study.
Compared to books and journals, internet research saves time that the researcher would have needed to put into searching through various books and articles for information. It is also cheaper and more convenient than having to search for credible experts to interview. Internet research conducted from a single location has the potential to retrieve a wide range of relevant and direct information which makes research faster and more efficient. The many stages of review a book is required to pass through before publication helps to verify the credentials of the author and the authenticity of the facts contained in publication. While this may be an advantage, it also poses the problem of making it difficult for authors and publishers to keep up with new findings. On the other hand, internet materials can be updated easily and made read...
The school that I visited was new. It was the first year of the school opening. The school board had combined two schools into one, so the students had to adjust to their new environments and new individuals. They seemed to be getting along well with each other. Since the school is new the teacher has to adjust to new problems that araise. Times for the subjects and times for using the computer labs change. So the teacher must always be fixable for anything. In this observation of this classroom I learned about the enjoyment of teaching. How you have to adapt to each of the students.
