I watched the movie called Bitter Seeds in my environmental class. The movie talked about the problems in India about farming. The movie also talked about the suicide rate, how high it is compared to our country. It said that every 30 minutes, a farmer commits suicide. In India, the economy is not that great so they went with the seeds that were more expensive. The culture is completely different from ours, they celebrate Pola, which is the bull festival, they do rituals when something bad is happening. Most of the seeds were rotting and they were not getting enough water, which resulted in the seeds not germinating, eventually the plants died out and the farmers killed themselves. The people who were selling the seeds wanted more money than what it really should have cost. Banks rarely loan people any money, they had to go to a Loan shark. Loan sharks were basically thugs because they would charge the people 7% to 10% interest per month to grow seven acres. I think Indian farmers should be able to get loans from the bank at a higher percentage rate so they won't have to go to loan sharks and get ripped off.

When I first tried a jalapeño, it felt different because it tasted different from the other chiles that I have tried. It taste better than the normal chiles that I have ate and knew. The roots of the turmeric plant are removed, cleaned, boiled, and are then pounded into a fine power for use. It was historically used to increase one’s physical energy, to stop embarrassing gastrointestinal gas, to kill intestinal worms, help with abdominal pain, including menstrual cramping.

Many of the ingredients that were incorporated into this dish are also used in a vast variety of dishes within North Africa. The paprika, cumin garlic, parsley, and red pepper flakes gave this dish a unique flavor that is different from typical eggs and vegetables. There was a hint of spice that seasoned the eggs and vegetables perfectly. The eggs were soft and warm, while the vegetables added a slight unique crunchy and soft texture. Although this dish did not incorporate staple ingredients like lamb, bread, or fish, it did incorporate many of the spices and vegetables that are used in many dishes and on a daily basis. ...he Basil is my favorite for its unique fragrance and versatile use. This lovely herb is used mostly in Italian cooking; it wouldn’t be Italian unless you add the Basil. Fresh herbs add so much more flavor to a dish and a healthily alternative to salt. Some of the other Herbs I plant for their flavor are Rosemary, Sage, Parsley, Thyme, Chocolate mint, Cilantro.

Anise is found in these very nice plants that look like a star. Their color is brown and they are sweet spices that many people like. Cardamom is green and this spice is made using and mortar and pestle and this spice is in many salads they are very sweet and salty if you would say.

It consists of cinnamon, black pepper, cloves, cardamom, and other spices (Sheen 7).
