Worldview Paper As a Christian it is important to recognize what your personal beliefs are and to truly live them out. So far this school year I have learned a lot more about God and it has personally helped to develop what I believe but also learn other people’s views. In this paper I am going to give my own personal beliefs as well as read the story, The Ransom of Red Chief, which provides some secular worldviews and provide some examples of those. I will then compare my Christian worldviews with secular worldviews. My worldview is the window from which I view real life and make sense of events and the world. Even though I come from a long line of strong, consistent Bible believers, I have also personally chosen to live with a biblical worldview. The benefits are tremendous to me; such as, a firm foundation of what is right and wrong, personal protection from sin and unlawful behaviors, inner peace in difficulties, a hopeful attitude that God will make good out of any situation, a life with purpose and destiny, and most of all, a life spent honoring, serving, and loving the Most High God. For me, I believe that God is sovereign over all things; therefore, I desire to find out God’s ways and plans for my life in order to accomplish His purposes in my life. I want to be pleasing to God in everything I do. Since Sam’s Secular Worldview rejected or ignored the existence of God, Sam believed that human beings can determine their own standards and values. He believes that anything that he was going to get in life, he had to get it for himself and that he had the right to take it from someone else. For example, he had a history of crime. He was a train robber; he was dishonest and was planning a fraud; he was a liar; and he was accountable to no one but himself. His moral ethics changed according to the situation at hand. For me, my biblical worldview leads me to give value and respect to others, without regard to their position, job, gender, age, family, race, or decisions. I do not have to agree or participate with their choices, but I do not want to live with a judgmental, critical mindset.
