Chris Van Allsburg was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 18, 1949, the second child of Doris Christiansen and Richard Allsburg (Thomson, 2006). One of Chris Van Allsburg books is The Polar Express. The Polar Express was made in 1985(Fact File, 2015). He won the Kentucky Bluegrass Award from Northern Kentucky University for The Polar Express. The Polar Express was shortly made into a movie after The Polar Express was created as a book in 1985. Another book he wrote was called The Misadventures Of Sweetie Pie which was a book of Chris’s (Houghton Mifflin, 2011).
Chris or Chris Van Allsburg also has another book which is The Garden of Abdul Gasazi. The Garden of Abdul Gasazi was written back in 1979 and was his first original book he illustrated. The Garden of Abdul Gasazi is a children’s book and was based on a little boy and his dog which is a Scottish Terrier named Fritz(Frequently Asked Questions, 2016).
