Obesity Starting at Home Child obesity is a serious matter today. Eating choices made at a young age can come back to hunt one once their older if not corrected. It is important to stop those habits at a young age to prevent adult obesity. As a child eating habits like such that contribute to obesity aren't just brought up on their own. Parents buy the unhealthy snacks that their child likes. Parents allow their child to choose when and what they eat without thinking time in and time out. Parents have a big influence on their child’s diet, therefore having a more healthy variety of foods to choose from will help decrease the possibility of obesity later. Obesity starts at home. An epidemic which children may to be ware of its severity. Opposing Viewpoint “ Child Obesity”“The increasing childhood obesity is leading to health problems previously seen in adults. These health problems from excessive weight can cause cardiovascular disease, diabetes, asthma, sleep disorders, eating disorders, some forms of cancers and even early-onset puberty. Also those obese children tend to later become apart of the obese adult populations. A rare genetic condition, such as Praer-Willi syndrome , causes chronic hunger and growth problems, is also possible to cause obesity in children. More than likely in most cases it is lack of exercise and poor nutrition. Children experience other issues like depression, loss of self esteem, and anxiety, which cause obesity. Childhood obesity is diagnosed mainly with children that body mass index (BMI) is higher than an average height and weight compared to children across the country. Due to the different variations of height , weight, and age, to get a more accurate calculations doctors look at the weight and height on the BMI for age-to-growth chart. “Childhood obesity rates have increased dramatically — particularly over the last two decades.” “Childhood Obesity” In the United States it was found that obesity has increased 5- 12.4 percent for children the two to five age ran, 6.5 - 17 percent in the population of six to eleven years olds, and 5 to 17.6 percent for twelve to nineteen year olds. “According to the American Medical Association, the US population included 12.5 million obese children in
