Cell Phones for Young People Useful or Distracting?

There has always been controversy as to whether texting and cell phone use can cause young people to be less likely to be able to concentrate and focus. As young citizens we have the right to be able to own a cell phone and not be criticized using it for educational reasons. Phones give you access to the internet, teach responsibility, and is an emergency access to contact parents; however it can cause cheating in class room areas by sharing answers, it can distract people from doing work in class, and can lead to online predators harming someone. Modern day phones give teens access to the internet to help them in many ways possible. For example it starts by helping teens to obtain answers to questions or provide specific locations. An online article states “many cell phones have been helpful in class by helping teens with problems they don’t understand smart devices such as a phone are a way of the future now” (“Pros and Cons 1”). The possibility the way phones help any individual is endless and helpful to many. Another benefit of using a phone is that it teaches responsibility. It gives teens the chance to grow and learn life lessons on how to take care of something that's important or expensive. It creates trust and helps builds healthy relationships with parents to maintain a social bond between parent and child. A scientist researcher stayed in an interview “Cell phones have given parents and children ways in which to improve communication and help ones needs in everyday life just as back in days beepers were a crucial part of life cell phones have become the next big then in everyone's life” (“Pros and Cons 1”). Phones can be very useful everywhere; however its the school districts,teachers, and parents to overlook if phone usage in school outweighs the drawbacks or vice virsa.
