Have you ever fought with someone, and in the end it only caused you physical and mental pain? Those fights are what tore a community and group of friends apart, with the characters in the book the Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. In this book fighting is no good, demonstrated by tearing people apart, characters getting injured, and loved ones passing away. Fighting in this book only caused more issues instead of solving them. None of the fights in this story had a positive outcome. Whether we like it or not, fighting is no good, it only causes issues. Fighting is no good because it tears friends, families, and communities apart. “ “Darry. . .” Sodapop began, but Darry turned on him. “You keep your trap shut! I’m sick and tired of hearin´ you stick up for him.” He should never yell at Soda. Nobody should ever holler at my brother. I exploded. “You don’t yell at him!” I shouted. Darry wheeled around and slapped me so hard that it knocked me against the door” (50). This causes tension between Darry, Sodapop, and Ponyboy, resulting in Ponyboy leaving the house. They might have killed you” (57) Bob one of the Socs is killed by Johnny in an effort to save Pony from drowning, this results in Ponyboy and Johnny getting on a train to run away to an abandoned church. Fighting also causes one of the greasers to make a bad decision. “Dally raised the gun, and I thought: You blasted fool. They don’t know you’re only bluffing. And even as the policemen’s guns spit fire into the night I knew that was what Dally wanted”
