Spy rings, nuclear weapons, and the fear of Communist infiltration are three factors that intensified the Cold War. Although the hostility did not result in a physical war, it received much attention.
In July of 1947, the United States created the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Council. The CIA collected and investigated national safety data from places around the world.
