I chose Saint Catherine of Alexandria because I think she is an amazing role model. She has done a lot of brave things to keep teaching the faith, and I will try to be like her but in a more modern way. She also died a virgin and martyr, and she is the patroness of philosophers and preachers. Because she is patroness to philosophers and preachers, she is often shown with a quill in her hand. St. Catherine is also pictured with a wheel because she was tied to a spiked wheel, and when it broke, she was beheaded. Her feast day is November 25. Nothing is said about when she was beatified or when she became a saint, except that she was canonized during the pre-Congregation period. Catherine was like Jesus because, even when her life was threatened, she continued to teach and spread the faith. She presented herself to the emperor and volunteered to debate against his pagan philosophers. He accepted because he was startled by her self-confidence. Not only did she win the debate, but she even converted some of her opponents to Christianity. The emperor was enraged so he threw her in jail. I believe that she is like Jesus in doing this. She also fearlessly practiced her faith in the open and inspired many people to convert. Even during times of peril, like when she was in a cell talking to the empress, she showed great bravery and kept teaching her faith. Some of her special virtues are being charitable, loving, and kind. I chose St. Catherine of Alexandria because she is an amazing role model. She taught her faith in times of great peril to herself and kept on teaching until she died. She even used the power of God and showed everyone that God is watching over her and taking care of her and everyone around her by breaking the wheel as soon as she touched it. She is also a martyr and changed many people’s lives during her time on earth. Thousands of people were converted and inspired by her, but sadly many of them were persecuted.
