Local Church Catalyst is making the world a better place by serving the forgotten people of India, specifically, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Catalyst focuses on Telangana and Andhra Pradesh because they are the heavily neglected people of India. The area that Catalyst serves has no government or nonprofit support and is rural. Catalyst is an innovative, replicatable, and sustaining program. Catalyst is a sustaining, replicatable, and innovative program for several reasons. The sustainable aspect is that each well provides an income for its local town. There is a small fee to use the well (eight-cents). Telangana was formed as a state in 2014 and has a population of 35.19 million. Andhra Pradesh has a population of 49.67 million. Catalyst works in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh (see map) because they have high fluoride levels in drinking water and are not currently served by the government. How are you going to do it? Why should we care? Catalyst is working to connect rural India with America though the work of the church. This gives people in India a voice, access to education, and systems to keep them healthy. This program is replicatable and has several aspects that quickly sustain the poorest communities in the world. Catalyst is able to build each well, water treatment facility, and attached structure at $5,000. The World Health Organization released a publication titled: Estimating Costs of Small Scale Water Supply Interventions the article states that each well (minus structure and fluoride treatment) should cost between $5,250 – 12,000. Catalyst is able to provide this service in a resourceful manner. The program has no paid staff and functions with volunteers. The volunteers are located in India and America. Board members Naveen Pammi, was born and raised in India. He moved to the U.S. in 2002 and is a software engineer.
