Class, I work in the space industry; specifically, Spacelift (launches). Here at Cape Canaveral, we share a vision of 48 launches from the eastern range in one year. The inspiration for this vision came from our Wing Commander, Brigadier General Montieth. Traditionally, we have launched anywhere from 12 to 24 launches in one year, making Cape Canaveral the most active space port in the world. As international competition grows in the space industry, our vision of 48 launches in one year is fostered by our pride and desire to remain dominant in the space industry. When leaders have inspired their followers, a sense of purpose, fellowship, and a desire to continue their work can be felt throughout their work environment (Schwantes, 2015). If an outsider were to stroll through my office, it would be evident that we are inspired to launch rockets. Members of my unit are willing to sacrifice personal time and work odd hours to ensure the mission is completed correctly. One member of my unit was so committed to the successful landing of a particular spacecraft, that he remained on station within three days of his report no later date of his next assignment. …show more content…

Both our wing commander and our operations group commander are incredibly charismatic and care deeply about improving the range. Their combine efforts will radically alter the way business is conducted on the eastern range but will ultimately lead to the goal of 48 launches. This vision is shared by all of the personnel, from the wing level, all the way to the squadron and flight levels. If I had to make one suggestion to improve the shared vision of the wing, I would ask leadership loosen restrictions on the Cape, to allow families to come on station without special approval. I feel that this would get greater involvement in the families of
