Statement of Purpose

I am applying for admission to the General Master’s in Business Administration program because I want a career as a financial analyst or consultant. Specifically, I am interested in learning the variety of general business courses such as accounting, management, finance, marketing and statistics. These key courses will cultivate my appreciation with issues within a company such as productivity, management, and company image. Not to mention, work to help determine how stable and profitable various businesses, stocks, and/or bonds are. It is vital for me to have a foundation in economics, finance, and management.

My interest in business sparked with my years with the Houston Texans as an intern within the marketing department. Working for executives within a professional franchise gave me a strong understanding on how much goes into a business model and gave me a whole new appreciation to the dedication it takes to achieve goals within the business plan. My years as a graduate student provided me with many business courses within the sports realm that translates into any business.
Courses such as Sport Finance, Ethics, and Sport Marketing gave me some of the aspects of analytics of business. I really enjoyed coming up with marketing plans and business strategies which gave me an opportunity to apply quantitative and conceptual skills to analyze business problems. As a graduate student, I performed with an exceptional GPA of 3.58 graduating in only 18 months. Although I did not receive awards as a student, I was highly praised from professors for earning an internship and position with the Houston Texans from such a small Sport Management

After five years of working in the telecommunications world, I am more than suitable to work in the environment of the business industry. While going through my career path, I have had ups and downs trying to figure out what I enjoy and can be successful at. Now I feel confident that this career will best suit for me.
