The theory is that peppermint stimulates the brain in a calm way reducing stress and anxiety. For example Mortensen explains what the theory is, “Peppermint also increased their alertness while helping them maintain a sense of calm.” According to research by Mortensen, even just the scent of peppermint can lighten a stressful atmosphere.(Mortenson, 2015) The theory has been proven as true by the simple fact that the holiday candy stimulates brain activity. For instance Mortenson describes the effect of peppermints to the brain, the hybrid mint increases oxygen and blood pressure and then brings the blood and oxygen to the brain. This oxygen and blood are used and increases concentration and focus. (Mortenson, 2015) The mint used in the experiment has been proven to increase the brain's natural

The Municipal Gum by Oodgeroo Noonuccal portrays the miserable, hopeless and despondent living conditions of the Aboriginal people. It expresses the feelings of the Indigenous people who are deprived and displaced from their native culture and native land by the white people. The general theme and the ideas addressed in this poem includes raising awareness of the tremendous discrimination and prejudice by white Australians against the aboriginal people. As World War II swept American soil, children craved to hasten their fathers’, uncles’ and grandfathers’ journey home. Furthermore, they began scrap drives to provide material for military armory and other necessities. The youth collected aluminum, rubber, paper, tires, tin, silk stockings and coats. Children essentially salvaged millions of products that were vital for the soldiers at war. The gathered supplies would eventually be used for necessities such as bullets, cars, weapons and tires. They even sacrificed their own toys for the brave soldiers across the Pacific and throughout Europe. Children played a crucial role in the scrap drives; often times they served as the main collectors. Even such simple uses like gum-wrappers would be

Tobacco is counted as one of the most dangerous drug and is one of the leading preventable causes of deaths in U.S. Many people put their life in danger by the use of this life taking drug, tobacco. The way Nicotine (which is derived from the tobacco plant and has very powerful affects on human body) works in our brain is by mimicking the actions of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine (ACh). Acetylcholine (ACh) and its receptors perform various functions of our body, including muscle movement, breathing, heart rate, learning, and memory. Acetylochine is also involved in releasing other neurotransmitters and hormones that affect our appetite, mood etc. When nicotine is introduced to our body, nicotine molecules, which are shaped like acetylcholine, take over the actions of acetylcholine and perform all its functions. Although, many studies described the negative health issues caused by the use of tobacco, the article, “Gender and the tobacco-depression” emphases on the relationship of tobacco and depression and its possible variations by gender in African America young adults.
In Middle School, before taking a big test teachers would always hand out peppermint or a piece of gum. The purpose behind this seemed unclear. However, from further research their was interesting facts about peppermint candy and Big Red cinnamon flavored gum. Peppermint candy is made with the oil of peppermint, which is extracted from the peppermint plant. This is why the candy can have some of the same effects as the oil itself. People believe the brain effects associated with peppermint are related to the scent of the peppermint, rather than the ingestion of it.

The author’s purpose in this essay is to show how smoking can be beneficial in some ways. Brimelow presents his credibility with studies from the International Journal of Epidemiology, New England Journal of Medicine, and Journal of the American Medical Association (Brimelow 142). He notes that smoking can both calm and stimulate people. Smoking has been shown to calm people while driving if they take long puffs. Smoking has also been shown to stimulate if taken in quick, short puffs. Brimelow reiterates this by telling us that “Current understanding is that nicotine is ‘amphoteric’ –that is, it can act to counter both conditions, depending on how it is consumed” (142). This is a reason how smoking can be beneficial.
Slime is a special play material made up of tangled polymer. It is mostly made by mixing polyvinyl with the chemical compound known as borate ions, you can describe it as a liquid and mix it in a sizable container for mixing. In a more difficult explanation, slime is more commonly known amongst scientists as a Non-Newtonian fluid. These are thick liquids that have a numerous selection of viscosity.
