The Acts of the Holy Spirit
The book of Acts is a hidden treasure of accounts that holds a unique position in the New Testament. Written by the physician Luke, the book of Acts chronicles the foundational growth and development of the early Church after Jesus’ death and resurrection. The book of Acts is also portrayed as a historical link and blueprint for modern day Christians to reflect and follow. “Sovereign Lord,” they said “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them. You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant our father David: Why do the nations rage and the people plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed one.” Indeed, Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in the city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed. They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen. Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. In Acts 4:30, the Church sets a great example of how we should pray to experience and encounter signs, wonders and miracles, “Lord look upon their threats and grant to your servants, continue to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” Through our spiritual journey in life, we should never place expectations of the power of signs and wonders to appear, we also may not be privileged to encounter supernatural miracles or events, but instead we should have the committed faith built in God, so that he will express his power in our life through miraculous ways.
