Bo Jackson was a football and baseball player that was one of the best of his time. People looked up at Bo and thought of him as a superhero because of his incredible talent in sports. But Bo’s life wasn’t always full of fame, he went through trials as a kid including being bullied for his stutter and feeling as if he did not belong. But he took his frustrations out on the field which got him to become known for being a monster on the baseball field and football field. Bo Jackson has always been talented and very strong, he was able to overcome any challenges that were thrown his way, and he fought full heartedly and gave it all he got. Bo Jackson was born with incredible strength. Many rumors started forming in his early years of life, but many of these crazy rumors were accurate which shocked many people. Since he was bullied for a stutter that he inherited from his father, Bo had a lot of insecurities and anger built up. He would throw rocks as a kid to cope until he was older and was introduced to sports, which made him love sports even more. Coaches saw the potential in Bo and that's when scouts started checking him out. They got to see the talent with Bo by just stopping by practices. He called football a “hobby” and did it during off season for baseball. His strength was shown in each sport and put everyone in awe. During one game, he told the coach that he could jump over the men to score a touchdown… and he did just that. He was faster than all of his competitors, and stronger too. Particularly, Jackie Robinson is best known for being the first black baseball player in the Major Leagues. As an experiment, to have baseball a national sport, Jackie Robinson was chosen to be a baseball player. He stood ground as people threatened harm on him. Without the support on him, though, Robinson wouldn’t have made it.
Throughout his high school years he played all different kinds of sports. He played football, baseball, basketball and ran track. He was one of the best in all those sports. When he played for his high school basketball team he was the leading scorer, and earned the name “Prime Time.” After his four years playing for his high school team, it was time to start looking for a college. Since he wanted his mother to come see him play, his first pick of colleges was Florida State. He had great careers in all the sports he played in. Before his senior year at Florida State University (FSU), the Yankees took him, so he played professional baseball while in college. While he was in college he decided he would stay away from cursing. So every time he cursed he would pay someone 5 bucks. In 1989 he was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the first round.
Bo knows what it is like to be called one of the greatest athletes of all time. Vincent “Bo” Jackson had to overcome a lot as a child, he was the eighth of ten children that his mom took care of. His family was very poor, and not knowing his father very well did not help the cause. Jackson overcame poverty by working hard, excelling at multiple sports, and staying out of trouble.
Without Jackie Robinson entering the game of baseball, there may have not been a Muhammed Ali, Arthur Ashe, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, or even Tiger Woods. Of course the possibility of another African American taking the throne and leading the fight for African rights through the game of baseball is justified but Jackie’s timing in the movement was impeccable. So impeccable, that it empowered others to stand up in a time of oppression. “All of us had to wait for Jackie,” said pitcher Joe Black. Joe Black says it well, Jackie Robinson is more than an African American baseball player, he was the beacon of light that sprouted the growth of blacks in the game of baseball, and sports nationwide. Even President’s gave credit to Jackie’s accomplishments. President Ronald Reagan stated, “He struck a mighty blow for equality, freedom and the American way of life, Jackie Robinson was a good citizen, a great man, and a true American champion.” Once his career was over, he did not quit pushing for Black American success. He became a vocalist for Black rights and became an analyst for major league baseball. He was hired by ABC to go on television for miscellaneous things and was the first Black vice president of an American corporation, Chock Full O’ Nuts, and helped establish the Freedom National Bank. Athletes come and go, but there are a great few that are remembered for having made a bigger impact than normal on the sporting world. A few of those athletes names are Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky, and Bo Jackson. Many people don’t know very much about Bo. This is because he wasn’t playing for very long. Although his career came to an abrupt end, Bo Jackson is still considered one of the best athletes ever because of the impact he was able to make while he was healthy. Knowing what he accomplished in his short time in professional sports makes many wonder, what more could he have done?
Three specific ways in which American expansion shaped the Jacksonian period was through the advancement of technology, by way of slavery, and the Indian Removal Act. Jackson used any political and economic means necessary in order to see American frontier regions expand across the nation. Jackson’s Indian Removal policy had some of the most important consequences and paved the way toward American expansion. In the beginning of the Jacksonian era, colonial Americans’ settlements had not yet extended far beyond the Atlantic seaboard, partly because bad roads and primitive technology limited their ability to expand, and because both hostile Indians and British imperial policy discouraged migration beyond Appalachian Mountains. However, all of this changed after Jackson was in office and American expansion was well underway.
As time went on, Jackie began to have a great love for sports. He admired basketball, track, football, and of course the wonderful baseball. He did very well in all of these sports and won many trophies. He went on to play football for the Honolulu Bears. After that, he decided to serve his country, and go to war.
These are the words of Jackie Robinson, the first black man to play baseball in the Major Leagues. Jackie Robinson changed the face of baseball. Back then, in 1947, blacks and whites didn’t have the same opportunities. Blacks weren’t as respected as whites were. National and American teams, like the Major Leagues, were segregated because people thought that blacks weren’t as talented or smart as whites were. Jackie Robinson proved all those people wrong and made history by greatly impacting the sport of baseball with both his mental and physical ability.

Although he had no money, Roberto Clemente practiced and practiced until--eventually--he made it to the Major Leagues. America! He then earned renown as one of the most successful coaches in NBA history, winning six titles with the Chicago Bulls and another five with the Los Angeles Lakers before retiring in 2011. In 2014, Jackson returned to the NBA as president of the Knicks. Phil also knew how control the egos of of his players and knew when to sit them out or put them in. Michael was pretty much a Tiger, just playing a different sport. The thing about Michael is unique though, he wasn’t always a guy who could run circles around everybody, in fact Michael was cut from his high school varsity team. The thing different about Michael though from other people is he was so determined the next year in high school to blow everyone away, he did so much work that the next year he was the best on the team. Then, Michael went to college just one year before he entered the NBA draft. He was selected by the Bulls and he went through his NBA career dominating, because he just had the will and determination that he wanted to beat everyone on the court that he put tons and tons of work
